Single page, two embossed patterns. They might be intended for a smoking cap, if the rectangular pattern would be extended to cover the circumference of the round one. The relative dimensions look a bit off for a smoking cap, but maybe that was left to the needleworker. Of course these designs would also be suitable for other purposes.

The Journal des Jeunes Personnes generally had simpler patterns suitable for younger needleworkers, but this is quite a piece of work.

French fashion magazine, 36 pages excluding covers, advertisements and two separate colored plates. Page 16 and 17 are combined to one. The cover and advertisements were detached and may be in the wrong sequence. Many fashion illustrations from the upper class ladies dresses, childrens dresses, jewellery designs, toilet accessories and a silver tea service. Some handbags and the big hats of that era. Designs from famous designers such as Redfern and Poiret. Dresses very similar to those in the film Titanic. No publisher mentioned, possibly some pages are missing.

Small softcover stapled booklet, 20 pages including covers. No date but probably around 1950. Colorful illustrations and simple instructions on how to sew dolls clothes. Intended for needlework lessons for little girls. The Needlework Development Scheme was a project intending to encourage embroidery and to improve the quality of embroidery designs. Established mid 1930, ended around 1960, subsidized by thread manufacturer Coats.

Four Miser Purses

Four so-called miser purses, three crocheted with beads, one sewn from plain fabric. All four have their two rings with which to close each end of the purse. The second purse is missing the ornament at one end. Two purses have beadwork on each end, different so the ends could be told apart by touch. The ends might contain different coin values, and different ends made mistakes less likely.
