A simple embroidery pattern, depending for its effect mainly on the chosen colors. Nice curly outline gives a lively effect. This pattern is also present on a band sampler in the Victoria and Albert museum collection, and that sampler is dated 1860-1870.

Embroidered pelmet. The pattern is very clearly inspired by the Englishwomans Domestic Magazine pattern titled The Ranee Whatnot, but on overlaying the charts there's a clear difference in color choice, and the original pattern has been adapted to the required size. Narrow beading pattern

Narrow panel, probably for a towel rack. Originally the background was an allover bright red, but probably that was not included in the original pattern. A two color background, light in the centre and darker in the background, matches similar patterns, and blue contrasts better with the brown color range of the motif. Of course, suit your own taste.

We have no permission to include the original images (asked, but never received an answer). Pattern reconstructed, corrected and adapted by Sytske Wijnsma.

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BERLIN WOOLWORK EMBROIDERED PURSE RETICULE c1860

Wonderful antique early Victorian purse, which has been produced from Berlin woolwork embroidery. The woolwork panel has been hand sewn in a geometric design, using stunning brightly coloured threads. The purse has been trimmed with green cord, which forms carrying handle, with matching tassels to each edge. A similar item is illustrated on Wikipedias article about Berlin woolwork.
