Two leaves from an incunabel book |
Two separate leaves from a very old book. The black letters are printed, the initials are handpainted afterwards. To make the painting easier, little letters were printed in the empty space showing which initial should go where. It appears to be a book about religious laws. The leaves were numbered 1 per leaf, not as we now do an odd number on one side and an even number on the other. Scans donated by Peter Ketels, edited by Sytske Wijnsma. |
