She covers dos and don'ts on sewing machine usage and the ever important - setting tension. Different sewing machine feet that she explains their uses in detail are the narrow hemmer, wide hemmer, binder, tucker, ruffler, edge stitcher, corder, and quilter. There is a handy reference chart on thread and needles to use for machine or hand sew. Included is a guide on how to properly hand sew. Hand stitches explained are the running stitch, back stitch, basting, overcasting, felling, blind stitching. Seams need to suit the material and situation and she helps you through picking the correct seam by explaining open seams, French seams, double stitched seams, lap felled seams, and a slot seam.
