Blijdorp, L.S. (maker)

1894

1894-ANTIQUE-DUTCH-WOOL-WORK-SAMPLER-WONDERFUL-PATTERNS-SIGNED-L-S-BLIJDORP-311535686990

Photographs of an old Dutch woolwork sampler, with 34 pattern samples, a border with flowers and leaves, and a border in red backstitches. Dated 1894 on the sampler and named as by L.S. Blijdorp. Some of the patterns were evidently popular as they recur in other Dutch samplers around that time.

Dutch needlework sampler

AMAZING-1922-VERY-LARGE-DUTCH-NEEDLEWORK-SAMPLER-CROSS-STITCH-SEWING-TECHNIQUES-311555241722

A needlework sampler also known as "pronklap" to showcase the makers sewing and embroidering abilities. Usually these were made during sewing lessons that were given to girls after schooltime. This sampler is probably the work of years. Most of these samplers were long and narrow; this one has three narrower strips side by side and had metal rings so it could be hung on a wall.
